Solabiol Greasebands
Ready prepared greasebands for application to fruit trees.Traps winter moths and prevents damage by their caterpillars.
Protects fruit and ornamental trees against winter moth caterpillars, earwigs and ants. Winter moth caterpillars emerge in spring and feed on foliage, flowers and young fruit. The wingless female moths climb trees in October, November and December and again in March to lay their eggs. Ants “farm” pests like Greenfly and Scale Insects by protecting them from predators while feeding off the sugary sap they excrete.
Boltac Greasebands will effectively trap these pests before they can lay eggs or cause damage. Because the bands and non-drying adhesive are pesticide free, they’re ideal for organic gardening and for use in combination with other methods of control. Boltac Greasebands – easy to use pest barrier for fruit trees.
Timing: To save fruit from winter moth caterpillars apply in early autumn and keep in place until spring. To trap earwigs and ants and other crawling pests as they climb the trees, re-apply in May to September.
For best results: Apply bands well above ground and surrounding vegetation to prevent bridging which may allow insects to cross the grease. Apply bands to the smoothest part of the trunk and clean off any loose bark, moss or lichen beforehand to prevents pests crawling under the bands. Use the band around any supporting tree posts. Inspect regularly to remove trapped leaves etc. Replace if necessary.
Boltac Greasebands consist of two pre-prepared bands attached to each other, sufficient for 10 – 12 average sized fruit trees.
Band approx.2 metres treats 6-8 fruit trees.
